Last Monday I went in for a non stress test to see how the baby was doing. They hooked up the monitors and watched his heart beat for about 25 minutes. They took my blood pressure several times during the test and found that it was higher than normal. After the monitors were taken off they checked my protein and it was very high. The on call doctor reviewed our results and contacted Dr. Berry and they decided to induce me. So we went to Labor and Delivery where we checked in and got settled in the most beautiful room with a fabulous view. Our nurse came into our room to start my IV. She wasn't successful and they had to pull in the big guns. He was the anesthesiologist and still had trouble putting in the IV, after sitting with warm towels wrapped around my arms and seven tries he finally got a vein to cooperate. Dr. Berry came in about an hour later and broke my water. A few hours later they put the epidural in and I started to feel better. We started pushing at about 1:00 and were glad that Dr. Berry was able to make it to the hospital in time to welcome our baby into the world. He came out with loads of red hair, a perfectly spiraled umbilical cord, and all his fingers and toes! Joel and I are so happy he is here happy and healthy, he weighed 5 lbs. 8 oz. and 17 in long.
